If there is one video game that has taken up more time than just about any other recently, it would have to be "Animal Crossing: New Leaf." One would imagine that a game based on living life in general would not be fun but there is simply so much to do that it's unfathomable. While you still have to pay mortgages, for example, hobbies like fishing and fossil collecting are a lot of fun. Where exactly would adventure race training come into the picture, though?
Keep in mind that this game, for all intents and purposes, is a life simulator. You live from day to day, in real time mind you, working in a multitude of ways in order to keep your town prosperous. Being the mayor isn't the easiest job in the world, especially when you have to make sure that the location looks as nice as humanly possible. This is just the "work" aspect, though, so don't think that there aren't other ways to get lost in the game. They might prove to be the most enjoyable ways.
There are times when you will be able to enjoy the town for what it is: your digital oyster. While there are many hobbies worth spending time going about, I think that fishing is one of the most enjoyable ones to list off. I believe that part of this comes about because of the timing which is needed in order to reel in a catch, which can actually take some practice since all fish will require different skill levels. If you were to ask me about my favorite location in the game, though, it's the island.
Seen as a Hawaiian getaway of sorts, it doesn't take much to get on a boat and set sail to this area, where a number of activities exist. Not only do you have a small section where you can catch exotic fish and bugs - as well as collect various fruit - but you can also take part in a number of challenges, which is where I see adventure race training coming in as a useful preparation. These can include anything from digging up the correct fossils to popping airborne balloons with a slingshot under a certain time. I can only imagine how events like Spartan Race would go in this world.
I personally enjoy the idea of these challenges because they are ones which test your skill in a number of ways. Of course, you're going to want to be the best that you can be in them so making sure that you try your best over and over again will give you a better indication of how to tackle each one.
