Window Washing Crews Are Standing By

By Kate McMahon

Glass gets dirty. It does not matter whether it is the store front panes you are thinking about or the windows you have at home. Debris is kicked up by pedestrians and cars in front of your store. Daily activities at home will generate debris and dirt being plastered all over your home glass. The crews who offer window washing services are your best bet for this reason.

Many homeowners will want to clean this themselves, however, the commercial building you have needs a little more attention that what you, yourself, can provide. The companies who do this work every day will be the best decision as they can come in and make the job look so easy. They will make recommendations about frequencies and ensure this happens at just the right time.

It has been shown that these window jockeys draw a large crowd when they are working. People gather to look when they see someone do things that they do not understand. They do see the glass getting wet and then, all of a sudden, it is clean and dry. They rarely see the movements that make it that way.

One of the reasons these experts amaze people is not necessarily because of the tools they use. They will all start with a basic kit that includes a wet bar and bucket. The squeegee will be included and a few cloths. Most will also have a window knife they use for sticky substances.

The best way to explain what happens when a cleaner cleans a window is to get the glass wet and then get it clean and dry. The wet bar is used to make it wet and the squeegee is what does the most work. Every window jockey will start with the basic motions which starts at the top and goes to the bottom. The squeegee is then brought back up to the top again and does it all over until the glass has been covered completely.

Others will use what is called the swirl. It can be a complicated movement that cleans the entire window with only one stroke and takes a professional doing this for a long time to get it right. Getting to all of the glass necessary is also something that takes a little more imagination, on occasion.

Most of the glass that is on the first floor and most private homes can be cleaned by these experts with a ladder or simply standing on the ground. Many of the higher stories will need to have lifting devices such as a scissor lift or boom truck to get them up close and personnel with the glass. All of the members of custodial companies have the training for these pieces of equipment and they have the idea of safety first as well.

The custodial firm who does your current cleaning will probably be in the best position to do the window washing you need. For your home, you can also ask them if they do private homes. This is a good extra income for them and they would probably not have a problem with it. While some of the smaller, lower windows are fine work for a do it yourself person, anything above or more complicated than that should be given to these professionals.
