Getting The Dryer Vent Cleaning You Need Fast

By Elena McDowell

There are more than 15,000 dryer vent caused fires per year across the United States. That is a lot of fires and all of them can be prevented. The material that gets stuck in the vent is something that can be controlled and dryer vent cleaning can be done quickly and fairly easily.

The material that is at danger of starting on fire will be the lint and other material that is not filtered out by the consumer serviced filter. Making sure this is done after each and every load is a good idea. That, however, does not eliminate the need to service this hose on a fairly regular basis. It is not hard to do, however, it can get sweaty.

It is messy as a do it yourself job. The dryer unit will need to be removed from its position, probably, against the wall. A couple of tools will be needed, such a screwdriver and or socket and ratchet. The appropriate tool will be used to remove he clamp around the hose in the back of the unit and from the wall at the outflow connection.

Using something that will not damage the hose by pushing it through it will clear out the loose debris and some of it that is attached. This will only be a stop gap measure and can get complicated if there is a lot of material that is stuck to the inside of the hose. Occasionally this hose may need to be soaked in a utility sink to remove everything in it.

While reinstalling this hose do not damage it in any way. By causing a crack or hole in this, it will allow a large amount of lint to be introduced into and onto all of the surfaces. The crews that can be summoned, through the professional companies, will not allow this to happen as they have the training and experience to see it does not.

The lint and other material that is expelled into the hose from the dryer is damp because of what the dryer is doing to your wet clothes. This makes it easy for this fairly light debris from getting stuck. Maintenance and observations is the only thing that will help prevent this build up.

Doing all you can to prevent this debris from getting into the hose is the best idea. Having a routine scheduled maintenance of this is an even better idea. The professionals who do this all of the time will have all of the tools and resources to deal with this. The crew will have all of the muscle they need and all of the suggestions for you about other safety issues in this room.

Since the heat that can build up within this appliance has been proven to ignite lint that is exposed to that heat, cleaning this out occasionally is very necessary. The companies who deal with the dryer vent cleaning in your community are available with a phone call. They are trained and have the tools, experience and willingness to crawl back behind your dryer and make sure it is safe to use again.
