You can also attach bells and shiny balls in stockings, or miniature figurines or patterned fabric.
And of course we can't forget the front lawn right? This is a lot of space to go wild about. Do'nt hold back with your ideas, let them flow freely. Be colorful and over the top, its Christmas anyway. It doesn't have to be expensive; but you will need to have fun. Draw big images of stars or anything Christmas related, and spray paint it with glitter. Purchase those Styrofoam balls in many sizes and assemble them into party loving Snowmen in your yard.

Do not have liquid near electrical Xmas decorations, dont leave christmas lights on all night, and use a sturdy stool when reaching for the higher areas.
